Drug & Alcohol Use | HR-01.09

Policy
Indian Rocks is committed to being a drug-free, smoke-free, alcohol-free, healthy, and safe workplace. Employees are required to come to work in a mental and physical condition that will allow satisfactory performance of their responsibilities.

All Church properties, vehicles, and activities of any nature on campus or off campus are to be smoke-free, alcohol-free and drug free. The definition of activities is including, but not limited to, worship, teaching, hospitality, programs, recreation, mission trips and youth sponsored activities.

Employees may not use, possess, distribute, sell, or be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs while on campus or while conducting any off campus ministry-related activity. You may use legally prescribed drugs on the job only if they do not impair your ability to perform the essential functions of your job effectively and safely without endangering yourself or others.

An acceptable Christian lifestyle witness is an essential job function for all employees.

Procedure
In accordance with being a drug free campus, Indian Rocks conducts random screenings, pre-employment screenings, post accident screenings and reasonable suspicion screenings. Additionally employees that use ministry vehicles could incur more frequent random screenings.

If an employee violates this policy, it may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including immediate “at-will” termination of employment. If there are questions about this policy or issues related to drug or alcohol use at work, please refer to the Human Resources Director without fear of reprisal.
